Anyway...

Tony Grieg was of the opinion that India play five bowlers for Adelaide, he suggested dropping Jaffer and get Dravid to open and play Bhajji.

So it would be:

Sehwag
Dravid
Laxman
Tendulkar
Ganguly
+Dhoni
Pathan
Kumble
Harbhajan
RP Singh
Sharma

Yeah, I'd agree. I think that's the way they'll go and I think it's the right move, too, even though I don't rate Harbhajan as much as most.

Nah, keep the same side for mine. Don't want Dravid opening and might as well keep Jaffer after persisting with him till now, it's not ideal but it's better than Dravid opening. Don't ruin a winning thing for mine.

Hogg for Tait is the only change I'd make to the Australian line-up.

Reckon you'd want Hayden in for Rogers as well

I don't think Jaffer is up to handling Aussie conditions. If we want to keep the 4 bowlers plus Viru then bring in Karthick. He showed promise in England and deserves a chance.

The only thing that may be tempting to keep Wasim Jaffer is that Adelaide is one of the best wickets in the country to bat on, and if he is going to find form at one ground, then it is the Adelaide Oval.

Again, bemused as to how this is acceptable...
Wanting the forum to be sanitized then. Not much wrong with the two statements you quoted. A bit offensive but that's been seen here in the past. Only reason stuff similar to that was unacceptable around the 2nd Test was the heated tension.

Haha didn't really think of it as a change as he was always pencilled in for Adelaide anyways.

But ftr, I'm still so upset at Jaques that I'd consider letting Rogers stay instead of him at Adelaide. I know it's not right as he's earned the spot with a terrific FC career as well as a great start in Tests, but far out some of those shots were stupid.

I think you (Prince) made an excellent post a hundred pages or so ago, that he's gotten to complacent and has to go back and start grafting and grinding runs again like against SL.

I sort of agree with that. And dropping Jaffer weakens the batting a little (even if, admittedly, he has done little of note so far) and makes the tail just a little too long. My only qualm is that it is Adelaide which traditionally favours batsmen (iirc) and slow bowlers (although that said, Indias last win there was built on some fine swing bowling from Agarkar). Jaffer, I think, from what little I have seen of him, seems at times to step a little too far across the stumps in his initial movements and so loses sense of the location of his off stump. If he gets that right, imo he has the makings of a perfectly decent opening batsman.

More to the point, 5 specialist bowlers is too much. One of them is always going to be underbowled. And if Kumble needs spin assistance it can come from Sehwag and Sachin. So, yes. Keep the same side.

If Rogers got a score, I would have retained him. He didn't score any either so you really couldn't justify dropping Jaques.

And yeah, I was actually a bit worried this would happen with Jaques straight off, after seeing him play a bit at first class level. He surprised me by coming in to test cricket with the right attitude and recognising that he had to play slightly different at the start of his innings, but he's become a bit over-confident now and is doing what I thought he'd do first off. He needs to get back to what worked and leave well early in his innings and get himself in before really going at the bowling. You could argue he felt he had to push the pace as the senior partner in this test, however he did the same thing in Sydney as well while Hayden was there, so I think he needs to re-evaluate his game a bit.
