Most people want him to play at 6.7 basically down the order
I dont think thats the best position for him at all, maybe on english and australian pitches, but not in sub continent
he needs to open on the sub continent pitches or come 1 down if there is considerable movement early on
especially when chasing, he needs to open, there have been numerous situations most notably againts india in india, where pakistan were chasing lost wickets, needed alot of runs of the last 15 or so overs, but afridi simply seemed useless at that spot
if he had opened, right from the get go, you would think he could quickly change the match in the favour of pakistan
he seems to make a much greater impact when he opens and gives paksitan a good start
feild restrictions also play a big role, afridi most of the time tries to hit the ball out of the ground, doenst really worry too much about placement, this is really suited to the first 15 overs of gameplay
with teh field spread out, afridi has had minimal success, ofcourse we can refer to the 50 of 20 odd balls he made againts australia in australia, but pakistan still ended up loosing that game.
I dont think its the worst desicion in the world to play him lower down the order, if they are obviously tempted, i think they should do the following
always look to play afridi within the fielding restrictions when ever pakistan CHASES
maybe send him lower down the order when pakistan bats first
