Seemed an incredible decision when he retired after the second test. Very few cricketers retire mid-series in the current era, but you can emphasise with the situation he was in. Struggled to fit into the mould of the Australian squad, and thus found it difficult to escape.

Making Marto a scapegoat of the Ashes 05 defeat was one of the worst calls the Aussie selectors made, he was easily one of the best test batsman around in world cricket at that time, and he was treated pretty poorly back then, and no wonder he felt let down by the system.
Eventhough he made his comeback and struck that century in SA, but I clearly noticed he was never the same reliable Damien Martyn ever again, and the decision to quit was a brave one, but also the right one at the same time.
Anyways, Is he in line to play in the IPL , would love to see him playing once again.
