PTU ODI Rankings
OK. Here we go again, hope that this time the thread isn't hijacked by "India v Hindu... whatever"
I have now got myself a website hear with CricketWeb to do my Rankings forever maybe... here are the details before a finished website is up... The Actual Rankings Page How These ODI Rankings Work So what you think? I'll say this since the start of the year the three SL v NZ games, has made NZ leap frog SL into 3rd. |
Very intersting, top stuff.

Yeah Pakistan's position is my only query, but it looks like you've gone to a lot of effort to get this underway. Congrats, great effort :)

I would have thought that Pakistan and India would be above Sri Lanka, but obviously rankings take into account a lot more than current form. Good job. :)

After the last of the four SLvNZ ODI, New Zealand still holds a slender lead over Sri Lanka in 3rd and 4th. ----- The VB Series Australia 1st South Africa 2nd Sri Lanka 4th Sri Lanka has a very good rating against the other two countries so a failure to get to the final here will send them down the rankings quickly. AUS 31.74 v SA 18.26 AUS 31.14 v SL 18.86 SL 29.95 v SA 20.05 |
Updated 13:Jan
Updated after Friday's SL v AUS match. The major change is that New Zealand hold onto 3rd, while Sri Lanka looks more and more likely to drop down quickly.
367.71 Australia 311.40 South Africa 296.92 New Zealand 293.28 Sri Lanka 290.61 Pakistan 285.34 India 279.94 England 252.31 West Indies 150.57 Zimbabwe 122.62 Bangladesh For a better roundup check My Website |
Updated after Friday's SA v AUS match. Australia lose a little of their lead and South Africa also fall a bit back to the pack. Sri Lanka still hanging on to fourth but a couple of loses in the remained of the month will drop them quickly downwards.
364.13 Australia 311.04 South Africa 298.19 New Zealand 296.75 Sri Lanka 290.64 Pakistan 285.74 India 280.41 England 252.24 West Indies 150.11 Zimbabwe 122.64 Bangladesh For a better roundup check "The Panther's Lair" www.cricketweb.net/pantherslair/ Upcoming Games Ratings AUS 46.2 v SL 27.1 AUS 43.0 v SA 33.9 SA 48.6 v SL 23.6 |
Update: Week ending 27th January 2006
Well the big change was a dip by Australia after there loss to Sri Lanka, but they still hold a big lead over South Africa. Even though New Zealand gaina point an a half through other results, Sri Lanka has regained third place after that big win against Australia early in the week.
360.34 Australia 313.86 South Africa 298.37 Sri Lanka 298.27 New Zealand 290.69 Pakistan 285.83 India 280.43 England 252.21 West Indies 150.10 Zimbabwe 122.60 Bangladesh |
PTU, explain how New Zealand get higher rankings despite the fact they lose?

Yes that is a mistake on my part although the numbers are just the wrong way round.
SL 3.75 v NZ 1.25 |
one small flaw in the system is that teams which lose and YET play a lot of ODIs seem to get a lot more points than teams which may win a lot but play very few matches a year.
