Yet another XI thread. Northern vs Southern Hemispheres

NZTailender

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
Forgive me if this has been done before

Just thinking today about a Northern vs Southern hemisphere series to be played all over the world. Who would you choose?

I thought about all time XI's & current XI's and who would make the cut and who wouldn't.

I'm interested in what you all think and all the different kinds of combinations that could be put together.

Perhaps to make things easier, it could be broken down into types of teams:

All time
Currently playing based on recent form (say the year of 2005)
Current players overall career records.

And for those of you bad with geography :p
North teams: England, Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, West Indies, Bangladesh
South teams: Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, Zimbabwe

There would be ODI's as well as tests, played at:

Sydney Cricket Ground
Melbourne Cricket Ground
Newlands
New Wanderers
Basin Reserve

Lord's
Kensington Oval
Sinhalese Sports Club Ground
Multan Cricket Stadium
Eden Gardens

So keep these in mind (pitch conditions) when picking teams...

tbh no New Zealanders deserve to make the test side. Vettori is a ridiculous token selection when you already have Warne.

He's there as a spinning all-rounder for turning pitches and his form next year. He doesn't make any of the other XI's (which I still haven't posted  )

I find it hard to see why you would want to leave any of these 7 out when a potential 5th specialist bowling option would be decidedly mediocre (Lee or Vettori?). You'd have that 7 + McGrath, Pollock, Ntini, Warne for sure imo. Lee would be 12th man. Perhaps, perhaps, you'd drop Ntini for Vettori if it was a real turner.

Out of that side the only ones missing are Gibbs and Gilchrist. No reason for leaving Gibbs out really but Gilchrist's form has been tailing off.

Lee is having a very good year now, and has real pace to bother the batsmen. With Kallis, you have 4 seam bowlers in that line up, the world record holder and Vettori is also having a very good year, much like Lee.

Over Gilchrist. McCullum is decent, but not in Gilchrist's league by any stretch.

He wouldn't have a clue against Warne either.

For starters, this is based on this years form. Which is what I meant to write, Irfan :D

Although you do bring up a good point, and I think now GIlchrist would be a better pick
