Its just a bit annoying at the moment as we need more runs from whoever our number 3 is. I'm in two minds as to whether we pick a guy like Cowan, or debut an in form batsman who is yet to debut like Maddinson or Doolan and just see if they can perform higher than Khawaja+Hughes+Marsh have done.

Our number 3 has averaged terribly over the past few years.

It's pivotal to setting the tone for the rest of the team, absolutely crucial. Lengthening the time between being 1 and 2 down is such a massive thing and why Ponting is rated even higher than his numbers suggest.
