Belgium are the flat track bullies of this sport

Adept at dominating weaker sides. Looking very comfortable here

Damn it Fellaini.

Honda moving through the gears there, good block by Kompany.

Knew that was going to happen as soon as you saw de Bruyne on the charge through the entire midfield.

Plenty of character shown from Belgium. Japan were wonderful but probably over committed regarding the final corner.

Just a bit, especially as they were never going to win a header.

But yeah, Japan were wonderful. Heart-breaking to lose it like that, and they'll be inconsolable for ages, but they played some fabulous football.
Maybe for the best that Belgium made it if we want to see the best sides progressing.

Belgium vs Brazil should be worth watching.

I think Japan had to go for it at the end because there was no way they were winning in extra time

Takes a pretty fair sized pair of brass ones to dummy in the box in the last minute of a knock out game at a World Cup with the winning shot beckoning. That sort of thing is incredibly disciplined imo. The temptation to hit it first time even when you’re not in the best position must be ridiculous.

It’s the sort of awareness that separates the elite from the rest IMO. Absolutely top class
