I thought this tourney had started, then saw there's a warm up on tonight? WTF is this scheduling?

Whatever it takes!!!
They said they wanted more associates. So they basically made the qualifying round part of the tournament and for some reason, everyone is happy. They will do the same for the World Cup next time and then call it the Super 10.

Its ridiculous that they think this means the event actually has 20 teams or something.

Somewhat weird that Family Man Pat didn't bowl at all in the warm up last night. Hasn't had any cricket in a pretty long time.

I think if Australia play the test seam attack, they can very well play spoilsport to one of the contenders. Hazlewood has improved a lot and is a better death overs option than Cummins, which is what you want if you are picking only two out and out fast bowlers. And Cummins can be pretty hittable even in the powerplay.

is a good group of bowlers to have for the UAE. I can see Australia defending 170 8/10 times with this bowling group even on decent to good batting tracks. The problem is them getting 170. Wade is going to be the 8th guy there obviously, so the 3 specialist batsmen become critical. Finch, Warner and Smith are all class and have pedigree at this level but they need one of Finch/Warner to rediscover their old attacking game for them to stand a chance. But if one of those two come off and Smith can float to be a band--aid who only bats in case of lollapses, I think they have a bettter shot than you think @Burgey .

Of course it involves them avoiding the Aussiest thing to do in T20s and galaxy brain their way to rock bottom.

I hope you’re right but unfortunately I think they’ll go nowhere. Finch might do something but I think Warner is a shot duck. He’s very a #tired #familyman.

For Aussie cricketers, family is the worst. Since Ponting, I've noticed a lot lose their skills when kids come on the scene.

I for one am getting really excited about this. Global tournaments like this always bring about lots of drama, even if you aren't a fan of t20 cricket.

Apart from India in the other group I wouldn't back any side to reach the semifinals. Just too hard to predict.

I don't think Sri Lanka will mind getting put in this group rather than group 2. It's a decent matchup for them against the mainly non asian teams in Asia. Doubt their batting is good enough but you can get some pretty long odds on them reaching the semifinals.

I really think the outcome of today's game will rest on how Aus tackle Shamsi and Maharaj. It's a major part of SA's strategy in the tournament. Maharaj especially leap frogging some of the other more capped South African(Linde/Fortuin) T20I spinners purely due to his Test pedigree and having superior skills in terms of flight and length control etc.

I'm not sold on Bavuma in this format either. I think Markram is a better option opening but it is what it is.
