Selection announcements Round 3 First Class

cometer

State Regular
Leicestershire after a draw and a win in the first class competition are going to stick with the same lineup for this match as well. No need to change what isn't broke but more importantly to try and build up a stable understanding between pairs as we are still quite a young side with many players in the side who have played very few competitive matches. Looking forward to hopefully destroying Hampshire and stake our claim that we can survive the season and not be one of the 3 relegated. Should be a fairly interesting game with high stakes.

"Im no One Day Specialist"

After a disappointing loss to Mashonaland in their last four day match, Colts have made one change to their side to play Queensland. Colts have called up South African seamer Andrew Tweedie to the first XI. Tweedie has been soild without being expectation so far this season for the seconds, but with manager Tharmi Loganathan looking for a 3rd seamer for the pace friendly Gabba pitch, Tweedie was prefered to English seamers Jones and Lewry. For most of Tweedie WCC career the South African had been seen as just a Limited Over specialist and never got a look in at his former club ACT FC side. But for the man who averaged 25 per wicket during his time playing for Natal in South Africa, this is a chance for him to shown the WCC public his no One Day Specialist.

When asked about his call up the 31 year old seamer had this to say, " Well i wasn't too surprised at the call up. I have always rated myself as a better First Class bowler then Limited Over bowler, but at ACT i never really got a chance. I glad the boss (Loganathan) has seen what i'm capable and given me a chance. Now its all up to me to make the most of this chance."

The player to make way for Tweedie was Sydney raised Sri Lankan all rounder Quintaz Birch. Birch will play for the 2nd XI at Allan Border Oval where he was named to bat at six, two spots higher then where he batted for the 1sts. Its beilieved that the Colts are hoping his greater oppurtunity with the bat, will help him improve his form so he can push for a spot in the 1sts on more spinner friendly pitchs.
