Why cant each nation field exclusive "test only" players

So as to have more test matches squeezed into the calendar without bothering about white ball series overlaps? For teams from sub continent it is a gamechanger.

India for instance plays only 10 odd tests a year and that can be increased to as many as 20 in a year.

That's a terrible idea. It would probably reduce the quality of all international cricket

What's the point of playing 20 Tests a year if most of the best players don't play them because they're playing some bull**** T20 comp or white ball series (or vice versa).

There's also saturation of product. Genuinely speaking cricket fans are cricket fans and you're going to get a significantly lower amount of viewers for each game if there is an overlap, or excessive supply of the product. And as a result massively diminishing returns in revenue

Like it's a "nice" idea but completely impractical

Well tests have its own followers as they seem to have lifted our spirits in that version particularly (also by continually faltering in icc white ball events). I take pride in our test display in recent years.
