This isn't remotely close.

Building a team or acting as motivator isn't a cricket skill.

Taylor is probably the best captain of the modern era.

obviously Taylor was a greater tactician by a remarkable margin but Lloyd's impact on Cricket is underrated.

Impact of cricket is different to skill as a captain.

He did a ridiculously amazing and underrated job of bringing players from different countries together to work as a team.
He never let players from the same country share a room, he pushed being and playing as a unit. He suffered at the hands of an aggressive pace attack and was determined that we would return fire with fire, and do it better and for longer.

He molded the team and focused it on aggression (with bat and ball), fitness and fielding.

He took the team from mediocrity to the absolute greatest of all time. He motivated and led with character and determination.

But Taylor was considerably better strategically on the field and that's what I primarily rate captains on.

Of the guys who were hailed as team builders, I easily rate Lloyd above them.

Mark Taylor is the best captain from my time of watching cricket.
Absolutely no argument there.

Think I mentioned this somewhere before, but there was a time in English cricket where that alone could get him into a test, and by juxtaposition or projection using that theory, only an AT team.

His catching at first would make it almost palatable.

I don't get why impact on cricket doesn't get rated as part of captaincy.

Team selection, motivation, onfield tactics, discipline, all are captaincy skills. It makes no sense to just rate captains based on one.

Clarke was an example of a great tactician who failed in man management which affected results.

Because it's not a cricket or on field skill.
Selecting players is not and the luck of the draw, and not a transferable skill. Motivation is the absolute minimum that any functioning human can do.

On field tactics, and placing players in the best position to succeed.

Everyone has their own criteria.

This shows you know little about captaincy honestly.

It doesn't have to be an onfield skill. All that matters in captaincy is influencing a team towards better results.

Selecting players, backing certain ones and team building has a massive influence on results. Motivating team members towards positive results also is vital. Especially if you are facing superior opposition.

Mark Taylor wasn't just a tactical genius but by all reports he created a hugely positive team environment. Warne talks about how much confidence he gained thanks to Taylor.

Ranatunga backed Murali after the throwing controversy in 95. A lesser captain would have bowed to pressure and thrown him under the bus. That single act influenced SL cricket way more than a 1000 tactical decisions.
