The '53 England squad was hailed by many as the best team of the 50's, but the '54 team apart from being @peterhrt 's preference, had better success even if less prestigious names.
The 2008 South Africa team took over the mantle of best in the world from the all conquering Aussie dynastic squad, but some here claim the 2012 team to be superior.
