In which country would Ambrose/Lara outperform McGrath/Ponting exactly?

Yeah that's about it. Other countries I would back McGrath/Ponting hence why I went with that combo.

I admit McGrath/Ponting and Ambrose/Lara is very close I just think McGrath would be a more consistent and steady lead pacer in all conditions.

Hadlee being a bat too gives the team options and can compensate for Chappells bigger advantage over Crowe.

Botham is a proper number six and it's a tossup between him and Kapil as bowlers but Botham opens up a space for an extra bat or bowler.

Ponting and Lara as betters aren't really that close for me. I know you have rather..... Questionable reputation on the WI. But yeah Lara over Ponting by much more than Glenn over Curtly.

Fair. And I don't even rate any of the Australian duo that highly and rate Crowe plenty, but it's pretty easily them for me, even given Hadlee's batting.

Botham was a proper no 6, but was shitty at that for half of his career. He is a better bat than Kapil, but not by a huge distance. Defo not to overcome Gavaskar and Boycott.

McGrath smoked England harder than Ambrose and Ponting loved the pace and bounce of Aussie tracks moreso than Lara who was inconsistent there.

Around equal. Lara over Ponting in England, Lara in Australia as well.
