a fun fact, this is the overall batting averages in the games of the Australian elites

Harvey – 28.31
Chappell – 30.81
Border – 30.91
Waugh – 31.16
Ponting – 32.47
Smith – 30.12

He really played on the toughest wickets.

Everyone who saw Harvey rated him as ATG, there are still many including Ian Chappell who rate him among top 3 Australian batsman since Bradman. His conditions adjusted numbers stands up well too. So many great performance in tough conditions and played some of the greatest innings of all time. He is absolutely an ATG.

Borderline ATG.
His first 2 years were absolute Bradmanesque and Final three became Bothamesque!
He somehow filled the void after Bradman’s retirement till Chappel debuted.

Nah he had one terrible series in West Indies, he was actually pretty respectable in his last two Ashes, 2 hundreds against Trueman and Statham and a great performance in Trueman's game.
