Underrated Captains

A thread for those captains who went under the radar for some reason.

The ones I can think of are Miandad, who achieved some good results for Pakistan, winning in England being one, but couldnt keep the players united.

The other is Dravid, who was an unlikely captain but actually achieved some great away results for India, with wins in England, Pakistan, and WI, and a 1st test victory in SA.

Yeah, Miandad is underrated. He led arguably the best Test side in Pakistan's history, at that time, with early career Waqar and Wasim. I think he had to have done at least a reasonable job at leadership to keep the good results coming in after Imran retired and left a big power vacuum. The dysfunction and factionalism seemed to increase in the side over the coming decade+ after Miandad left, even as the talent on the side seemed to be increasing as well, but that next generation of players felt largely wasted in their lack of accomplishments compared to what should have been.

Pakistan in the nineties is the lost generation.

Naseer Hussain .
IIRC , he led England to Test series victory in PAK and SL (??) . Also held India to just 1-0 victory in 3 match series .
