Clutch is mostly a myth.

"Hey how about we take a discipline in a sport that we really don't have anywhere near enough data on to accurately rate players on as it is, and just ignore 95% of it... for fun!"

Yeah, some players deal with high pressure situations better than others, but with some exceptions it's way too hard to differentiate from just variance.

But you have to agree that Kohli certainly isn't clutch, of course.

Seems contradictory.

This is just asking for our gut take on who is better to handle pressure.

It exists, but the evidence we have for it either way is extremely spurious. Hence mostly a myth.

Definitely fair to say Stokes is better under pressure than Ramprakash. Anything in between is probably going to extrapolate too many layers of coincidence IMO.

PEWS is right here. Data collection in cricket is nowhere near some sports like basketball, so why does anyone bother to make judgements based on incomplete information and personal feelings? It's meaningless.

No, you have to see here that the only meaningful trophy Tendulkar won was because of Kohli being more clutch than him. Hence Kohli is more clutch.

Nah. I think if you watch players over 100 test careers, you can tell who will deliver more in pressure situations.

In test cricket ironically many of both of their greatest innings came in losses. But I don’t think it’s fair to say Tendulkar was less clutch - many of his best innings in the 90s could have been clutch if the teams he played with weren’t so ass.

In other formats, Gavaskar is a joke of a batsman so it doesn't matter.

But in Tests, Gavaskar is more clutch than the other two.

In white ball cricket, what is the name of that tall Punjabi left hander? He was absolute clutch.

Whatever it takes!!!
This is a bad post.

The question wasn't, "Who is the most clutch Indian bat?"

It was a direct comparison between two specific players. It Gavaskar was better than either he's still not the answer to this question.

It'd be like going into every batsman vs batsman comparison thread and saying, "Neither, it's Bradman."
Or, u know, The Answer...
