It could be a typo, obviously both names do not refer to the same person. You must watch England's tour in 1993 to get an idea.

Latham definitely has the technique and mental mettle to become a great opening batsman. He's already good, and has 7-8 years ahead of him.

Yeah he underperformed in Australia but he did get to 50 in the first dig in Melbourne, then 49 in Sydney. He also made a host of really promising starts on the 2015 tour before throwing all of them away. He's had a conversion issue, a starting then getting out issue his whole career but his stint with Durham in particular seemed to improve that. After he played for Durham in 2018, he peeled off a 264, three big hundreds and another ton in the space of just over 12 months. An average of 42 is pretty decent, Cook averaged 45. Latham's conversion rate at 11 hundreds and 18 50s is pretty decent too.

Nup. You can't go to Australia and get your arse handed to us like we did, and claim that.

The 1985 team is our greatest ever. Heavily dependent on Sir Richard no doubt, but the side around him had a lot of quality as well and weren't scared of anyone. Not the Windies, not Australia over there, no one.

Yeah, possibly. And comparing generations generally never works. But I doubt the 1985 would have dropped its bundle as badly as the 2019/20 group did.
