May. Better averages overall and away relative to conditions. Jayawardene having better longevity is an argument in his favour but think it's almost a given May's numbers would have ironically improved if he continued into the 60s.

May played in some of the most low scoring test matches where the overall batting average was 26. Jayawardene would probably average sub 30 away from home if he played in those tests.

So it's May.
