Giving my vote to Pietersen, because I think this should be very close. He was definitely the most impactful English batsman of his generation.

International Captain
Also Cook was pretty clearly the most impactful English batsman of his generation although KP was more talented and had the higher ceiling

Pietersen turned matches in a way I don't think Cook was capable of. Pietersen was a very high ceiling batsman (below his very top international peers definitely though, due to less consistency).

Agree with this but Cook set matches up in a way that KP didn’t. Don't know the stats but always felt they had good partnerships.

Excellent shout. Averaged 64.69 in partnership. Given a minimum of 20 partnerships shared this puts them 5th on England's list behind Hobbs/Sutcliffe and the three possible Barrington/Dexter/Cowdrey partnerships. Of the 70 pairings that shared 50 or more partnerships globally only Misbah/YK and Hayden/Ponting had a higher average.

Gotta say, did not expect Miandad/Shoaib Mohammad to top the list for min 20 innings

Also did not expect Allan Rae and Jeffrey Stollmeyer to be 2nd for openers.

Interesting note: Sutcliffe and Hobbs also had one 5th wicket partnership (worth 90) after England switched around their batting lineup in the 24/25 Ashes
