I recall Bradman saying he rated Weekes higher than Headley.

But knowing how petty he was, may have had something to do with the Black Bradman thing.

what would people say are the best bowling attacks of Williamson's career/he has faced?

The usual Australian 4, Broad/Anderson duo, the Saffas and Ash/Jadeja in India I suspect.

I think he really missed out on the India tour. Had he led his team from the front and played a vital role in a 3 neel whitewash, I think his away record criticism would have toned down by a fair bit.

imagine if he averaged 30 and New Zealand still won lol

though, his average at home against India and Australia are sub 40, against Anderson it's 43, against England before the recent series with the inexperienced attack it was 49, against saffers it's however 67 (ignoring the school team series), wonder how he compares to Weekes at home

So like not really top tier at home against the 2 best teams of his Era. Though will say England record is legit Very Good, no point in dissecting that and SA is ATG.

Yeah, just feel like Weekes is more of a relentless monster at home, slaughtered even the strongest bowling at home, plus I've come to the conclusion that ignoring his India record doesn't really make a whole lot of sense so I don't even think his average is especially inflated tbh.

His India record was weak team bullying and should be included as so, but yeah not minnows to just not account for

His first two tons in India are just downhill skiing but in the third test in Eden Gardens, a pitch which had genuine grass on it, he made twin tons against average pacers + Ghulam and Mankad who are both good, in first inning he made 162 from 28-2 where next best managed 54 (Weekes made 45% of the team runs), and in second inning he also made a ton from 2-32, that's a very good performance imo considering the average Indian pacers were brought into the game due to the pitch. his 200 was in an inning against Gupte/Mankad from 36-2 where Gupte got 7 wickets so clearly some spin aid, his 161* was also on a wicket against Gupte/Mankad where Gupte got 5/107 so clearly not really a graveyard for spinners and the next best Windies bat in that inning managed 31 and he made more than half the team's runs.

feel like most of his tons when examined closely are quality, it's just the first couple and arguably the last which are genuine low quality, and the last one is a maybe considering Mankad and Gupte did get 5fers but from 220 and 180 respectively, though it could just be the wrath of the 3 Ws combined, especially since Valentine on the same surface had tons of success as well.

I feel like it'd be hypocritical to ignore these runs, even more so than removing the 1971 and 79 Gavaskar West Indies runs.
