Interesting belief
I am not sure what's interesting in that unless threshold of an ATG is much lower for some one. Those players are called HTB. An ATG in current era should be doing well in different conditions and in tough tours.

If you open a poll asking if Kane is HTB, I think you will get big vote for that. Let's see how many see Kane as an ATG, for me he does not come even close due to not impressive away record against so many countries and they happen to be the best 4-5 nation during his career. You got to show your class in tough away tours.

What if someone is ATB? Would you still hold the belief that home performances do not matter and rate him as ATG?

Home performance will matter in that case. My comment was about home being irrelevant with such a poor away record when making a cut for ATG.

Below ATG level, home runs will surely come in picture when judging and ranking against other players. Simply put, massive amount of home runs will never compensate for poor away record when discussing ATG. Reason is simple for me, home conditions for all players are different and they grew up playing in same conditions. But away conditions are more comparable and players are more at equal footings. To judge quality of player, I will first look at away relative to their peer group.
