Ganguly was better. He also offered very useful medium pacers, while Gibbs was an ATG fielder.

Ganguly isn't really a different tier to Gibbs anyhow. Just chose Gibbs because of personal preference...
Btw where would you place Ganguly in list of best indian odi batsmen?

I don't really think it's personal preference here. It's like saying Amla over Gibbs is a personal preference. Tier or not, not sure but Ganguly is sufficiently ahead for me.
5th. Ig you would have Sehwag and Yuvi ahead atleast.
