@peterhrt any insight on this one? how do the standing of these bowlers compare?
Ian Peebles had been watching cricket for more than half a century when in the 1970s he wrote that Larwood was the greatest fast bowler and McDonald the greatest bowler who could bowl fast. He described McDonald as the perfect machine whose graceful approach and action could bely frightening pace when he felt like it. Peebles found Gregory the most inspiring fast bowler without the refinement of his partner. He also conceded that a large body of opinion placed Lindwall first.

Voce wasn't rated as highly. His Test stats benefit from a couple of rain-damaged pitches in Australia.
