Can't help but I don't see the big deal tbh. It's not like they'll go from winning 0 Tests in Australia to winning negative tests

Reading into the detail of this, it may simply be sabre-rattling by Wood or his agent to get a better deal on a central contract.

In principle though I disagree with Stokes. Players cannot be allowed to miss test matches with impunity or it could bring down the international game. Doing so would, in my view, be a different matter to those who turned down the white ball tour of Bangladesh earlier this year as that would have been an under-strength team in any event and one got the impression that England only undertook the tour as they had agreed to it pre-covid.
