Do you get Zee sports channel?

Zee sports channel is pretty nice, they show so many classic matches. Even though the channel is Indian, they mostly focus on showing Classic England matches from the 1970's and 80's. They just showed Graham Gooch's 333 & 123 match against India. What a classic game that was.

I get it, though only recently- it has often gone missing on my set top box. I don't watch it often, except for a few football matches, but with no rights to cricket matches in India, not surprisingly, its viewership has declined. I'll have to check this channel again for this match.

Whatever it takes!!!
yeah.. right now ESPN-Star have rights to all cricket in England, Australia and ICC events. TEN and ZEE Sports have rights of matches held in Sri Lanka (not sure yet though, there is a litigation, I presume), Pakistan, South Africa, West Indies.. NEO have rights for matches in India and Bangladesh. I guess the rights for New Zealand and Zimbabwe cricket are still up in the air.. Sony MAX will be telecasting the India New Zealand series though..

ESPN Classic = greatest TV channel ever.

Zee, though, I'm never going near. Don't like pirates.

Interesting point about Sri Lanka. They've often been covered by TEN Sports but lately, NEO showed that IDBI Fortis Wealthsurance series.

I wonder why ESPN/STAR don't show NZ cricket now; they've had rights to most of the cricket there.
Sony MAX will be telecasting the India New Zealand series though..

Tell me that isn't true...

I wish Sky Sports would just buy the rights for every county.

:@
Is it still the subcontinent they don't have? they have WI, SA, Aus, NZ right? Probably because they get the rights for them pretty cheap (or through it being a sister company) and its probably not worth the money to them for the India games especially..i.e its not going to add much to their subscribers

They have India as well, can't ask much more than all cricket from England, India, Australia, South Africa and the West Indies. Plus they showed India in Bangladesh last year.

That's because the recent Sri Lankan series was conducted by BCCI, and all the cricket tournaments that are regulated by them can only be telecasted on NEO.

ESPN-STAR were put off by the lack of cricket the BC were playing at home, and therefore they decided to not renew their contract with the local broadcasters there.

Yeah it sucks, and since Sony have had the rights to show NZ cricket games, they have not even been showing the games, they didn't telecast a single game from the recent WI-NZ series, which kind of sucked.

I don't think Sony got rights for all games in NZ.. I assume it is going on a series by series basis.. which makes sense in the current economic climate...

And anyways, this IDBI cup was not conducted by BCCI.. It was a last minute addition and was not part of the FTP and therefore, it did not come under the package for which TEN Sports got the rights. So there was a seperate bidding for it and NEO won the bid and the rights to telecast. Free market, ftw... :)

I think they have rights for all the games, they did show the games between ENG-NZ, but during the WI-NZ series they didn't show the games live, they were showing delayed telecast of those games or something.

UIMM, Sky have UK, Australia, West Indies, South Africa, India and New Zealand. The lattermost is a very recent acquisition (2006/07) and the one before that dates from about 2003/04 IIRR. Never seen a game from Pakistan or Sri Lanka shown that didn't involve England. And they had those from Australia, West Indies and South Africa when we first got the service back in 1999.
