Interesting result, always thought Grimmett was rated higher on CW
Last rating we did had Grimmett ranked higher, but opinions on here re: certain players fluctuate all the time.

Even if most believe Verity to be better, this shouldn't be such a no contest in his favour.....
I mean, this is what happens in poll format sadly. If everyone thinks X player is a tiny bit better than player Y the result will be a complete blowout.

On the other hand you could have most people believe X is way better than Z, and some people believe Z is better, and Z would come off looking much better than Y.

Grimmett would win you games, Verity would give you pretty numbers.
Its interesting between them. Both at test and FC level Grimmett bowled a lot more per match, and took more wickets per match, this was exacerbated more at test level where Grimmett had to bowl a much larger share of the overs. Of course this has the effect of an advantage of more wpm for one player, but perhaps at an inflated average, and vice versa for the other.

At least at the Test level, I feel like Verity benefitted from being surrounded by competent pacemen a lot, often times we critique Keith Miller for the 3~ WPM but other than bashing India, Verity was also taking 3 WPM @ 27, and I feel like he managed to maintain it only because the pacers did the bulk of the work for him, I also remember Peterhrt saying that Verity was considered ineffective compared to the Australian spinners and English pacers of the time, an assessment I'd agree with, atleast on the test level.
