Bowling and Batting Instructions

Curious as to see if people ever change the bowling instructions?

Also what people have their batsmen on during tests or first class matches and odis or one dayers?

with the bowling i generally bowl the exact opposite of what the batsmans strengths are and set the field according.

TBH, I rarely change the field, as I like to get through the games quickly. I tend to bowl in partnerships. If they aren't working well (ie. runs but no wkts) than i will change it up, and see which works well. Never works consistently though. Watson and White may play well together one week and the next be the main goer-afterers.

Batting is simple for me. If i need runs while early wickets have fallen, i will start aggressive batsmen aggressive, and take the risk, considering wickets are flying. I normally wait till a batsman gets to 20 runs before adjusting, and then naturally comes of adjusting. My aim is 100 runs in a session always, or 5 an over in OD

Batting
In the longer versions of the game it depends on the pitch. If it favours the bowlers I will play watchfully (1 bar of Aggression), until I have got at least 5-6 bars of Confidence, then I will go to 2 or 3 bars of Aggression. I will go back to being watchful if a break is approaching or the new bar is taken, or if wickets begin to fall.

If the pitch is good for batting I will start on 2 bars of Aggression until I have 5 bars of Confidence. Then I will increase Aggression by 1 bar, then by another 1 bar when my Confidence is full. Again, as a break approaches, I will drop Aggression back by 1 bar.
After breaks I will play on a lower Aggression until the Confidence builds up again.

Bowling
With line and length I will ALWAYS bowl on a good length (middle one) regardless of the batsmans preference. I will bowl opposite the batsmans line preference. So, if he likes the ball on off stump I will bowl middle or leg.

If a batsman begins to build a score, I will experiment with length and around the wicket.

I generally set the bowlers agression to normal (3 bars) if they are a genuine bowler, or in exceptional circumstances I will lower it if they are getting pounded or raise it if they are bowling well. If they are a part-timer I will make them bowl defensively regardless.

I always go with the stock standard fields unless a batsman is hammering a particular bowler then I will move fieldsman around, but that is unusual.

And NEVER NEVER NEVER let a team chase under 160 runs per session in the 4th innings or you WILL lose.
