Me neither but couldn't think of better all rounder picks for their specific positions. Anyway I did this off the top of my head, so might have missed a few

Vaughan > Bell imo; especially at 3. He succeeded in the top 3 whereas Bell was dismal above no5.

Surely Trott at 3
Vaughan succeeded in the top 3 over a longer period of time than Trott and had an elite series v elite opposition so I'd take him.

Agree with you on getting Tres in there though. If we are being technical, I might open with Vaughan and bat Tres at 3, just to get a right hand left hand combination at the start.

First the changes I would make:
Australia: Simon Katich for Watson and Mitchell Johnson for Starc. Katich covers the 5th bowling role enough.
England: Jonathan Trott for Bell and Marcus Trescothick for Strauss. Trott is the better batsman and Root's record isn't the best at 3.
New Zealand: Darryl Mitchell for Henry Nichols, Kyle Jamieson for Tim Southee and Jacob Oram for Azaz Patel. Think this New Zealand will work best without a spinner.
South Africa: Ashwell Prince for JP Duminy. Don't think Duminy's bowling could impactful enough for this leap.
Pakistan: Mohammad Rizwan for Sarfaraz.

Now setting these changes aside, I think Australia is the best as they have the least flaws. India has a gulpable problem at no 5 (would had gone with India had VVS been available) and England's 3rd pacer is weak (and with England with Gough's presence would had been quite close); Australia is great all around. Two strong openers, a great Middle order led by the best available batsman, a solid keeper bat, the second best spinner available and a solid pace trio covering everything led by an ATG.

It was close for me between SA and AUS. AUS have the better batting but SA the better bowling but neither differ by much. Would be a close and very interesting contest in real life

SA does have the better bowling; but imo the batting difference is more significant. Duminy at 7 is a weakness; so would be Prince, and Du Plessis is also quite not there, as is Elgar. Australia also have the better spinner. Despite the bowling advantage, I probably won't take SA ahead of even India or England, as they have a fair few borderline passengers.

Ryan Harris > the 2 Mitchs

Silver Silva

International Vice-Captain
Australia ..

Because even their second XI would still be competitive

A second XI using different players than the one you picked :

1.Simon Katich
2.Chris Rogers
3.Marnus Labuschagne
4.Cameron Green
5.Travis Head
6.Andrew Symonds
7.Tim Paine (WK)
8.Mitchell Johnson
9.Ryan Harris
10.Peter Siddle
11.Stuart Clark

Team has 5 pace options so I'd replace Siddle with O'keefe
