Lara had one freak series, the best ever in SL.
Sachin had 3 great series over 2 decades.
1993 : 3 Tests. 3 inn. 203 runs @ 101. One
1997 : 2 Tests. 3 inn. 290 runs @ 97. Two
2010 : 3 Tests. 5 inn. 390 runs @ 78. One

1993 Sri Lanka were minnow tier, their best bowlers were Ruwan Kalpage, Khahakachchi Warnaweera and Pramodya Wickremasinghe.
1997, it's good, but Murali was far from the bowler he'd eventually become, and one of the game was the iconic 950+ game, arguably the flattest wicket ever formed.
2008-9 was not good at all.
2010, Sachin played well but he made double century in the game which Murali didn't play, and the scorelines read – 642/4, 707, 129/3
Nothing Sachin did in Sri Lanka is even in the same stratosphere as making 700 runs against Prime Vaas and Murali in 3 games.

That's why he's above Fleming and Tendulkar for me. That Galle knock is probably the best I've ever seen on Sri Lankan soil

Thinking of it, I'd actually have Root in my top 5 tbh behind Lara, Sehwag, Fleming and Tendulkar
