Not really. Apart from 2006/07 where England won the triseries, the last time England defeated Australia in a ODI series in Australia (regardless of how many teams involved) was 1986/87.
That's a very surprising stat. Guess it shows how bad England have been at ODI cricket for such a long time

Until this tour it's been virtually total domination by Australia over England in ODIs for 30 years. In this context it just makes England's achievement this series all the more impressive.

Australia v England ODI results in Australia since 1986/87:

1987/88 - Oz 1, Eng 0 (Bicentennial Match)

1990/91 - Oz 4, Eng 0

1991/92 - Oz 0, Eng 1 (World Cup)

1994/95 - Oz 1, Eng 1

1998/99 - Oz 5, Eng 2

2002/03 - Oz 6, Eng 0

2006/07 - Oz 3, Eng 3

2010/11 - Oz 6, Eng 1

2013/14 - Oz 4, Eng 1

Even though this thread was initially about Oz's ODI future, in light of recent events it can be expanded to how their T20 side will shape up for their upcoming home WC.

This tournament was the best Australia have looked as a T20 side since Michael Clarke led them, and that Warner was captain can't be a coincidence. In the shorter formats he just seems a natural leader and the team really responded to him; not only performing in all facets and looking energised and purposeful in all the matches.

To ensure Smith's longevity in other formats of the game, him sitting out of this format internationally and making Warner the permanent T20 captain makes a lot of sense.
