Reckon majority agrees that Pollock>De Villiers but Steyn>Donald, which duo would you pick?

Gonna go against the grain here. This is purely assuming adding them to an average team, I the the combo of an ATG bat and bowler would be more valuable. de Villiers being the Crowe to Steyn’s Hadlee, or Sanga to Steyn’s Murali. Bowler needs a total to bowl at.

Wouldn't Pollock outscore De Villiers tho?

How did this even happen
At least for the younger members, when you say Pollock, I (and others) automatically think Shaun in our heads. Graeme might be better than Shaun, but he's older and not seen much by us, as opposed to Shaun who we saw play live, and hence Graeme's name comes to the mind later.

We are all dumb?

Tough question to answer. I've got a lot of respect for Pollock as a bat in terms of what he accomplished in the opportunities he had. More than possibly any other modern bat, cos his test career was stellar, and and I rate what he did outside of tests more than what he did in them. But I really prefer to assess on test records, and I reckon I rate ABs test career ahead. 22 tests isn't enough.

And Peter gets completely forgotten...
