Alastair Cook vs Graham Gooch?

gooch possibly the better peak but can't ignore the fact that he was middling at best for so much of his career.

cook overall is clear.

Cook's last few years weren't pretty either tbf.

This is a quality thread.

Tough one, Gooch's batting against West Indies and Pakistan was next level stuff, possibly only matched by Mohinder Amarnath from the early 80s.

But the technical solidity and the run machine mode Cook was in early 2010s cannot be ignored either.
