What were his most common fielding positions? What were his best attributes as a fielder? Any weaknesses? Where would you rank him all time among the great fielders to have had a meaningful length Test career?

iirc somewhere close to the wicket. Not sure of a specific position. Davis’ database usually has fielding positions regarding catches where available, so I’d try checking there. I’ve heard he was very good in the outfield too.
