Grade Cricket Season X - Results and Discussion

cometer

State Regular
49 not out isn't too bad but it would have been nice to get the 50. I'm having a fairly good grade season with the bat shame we couldn't win that one though.

Another wonderful day of grade cricket.

Davistow Darters 277 & 112 Defeated
Edfield Seahawks 189 & 193 by 7 Runs.

A thrilling finale at Heathridge Oval, Galbraith & Nayak looked to be cruising Efield to victory, however nothing is safe at Heathridge Oval, and Comley struck, as Edfield collapsed from 4/139 to 193ao, falling just 7 runs shot. Comley keeps on producing in Grade with a commanding 90* for the Darters, and 9/161 for the match. For Edfield young Shoveller showed promise with 5/82, and Smith managed 9/107 for the Match.

Campsfield Braves 191 & 41 Lost to
Nixonstown Foxes 193 & 118 by 79 runs.

Chasing 121 proved to be too much Campsfield as the collapsed for a shocking 41, no batsman reaching double figures, as Clancroft taking a masterful 6/22, and 11/79 for the match. Collins could feel nothing but disappointment as the batsmen let him down, his second inning 8/27 being one of the best pieces of bowling grade cricket has witnessed. The only decent scores by batsmen were a 76 by Jamee Gray, and an 83 by the unknown Grierson.

Garven Island Sharks 107 & 134 lost to
Pickford Panthers 284 by an Innings and 43 runs.

Much fancied Garven Island once again failed to deliver, as the Panthers gave them a hiding to remember. Andrew Cloete doesn't get many opportunities at grade level, and the crowds flocked to see him play, however he let them down with only 6 runs. Sean Fuller was on fire with the ball, his 7/52 setting the tone for the game, reducing the hapless Sharks to 107ao before Pete Young's 83 helped the Panthers along to 284. Once again the Sharks collapsed, this time for 134, as they slumped to a shocking innings deafeat.

Twybridge Titans 296 & 4/64 defeated
Stedingham Jets 141 & 217 by 6 wickets.

An enjoyable 105 by Joslin was the highlight of the match, whilst Shafiq's 51 at 10 gave the Jets hope. Twybridge easily surpassed Stedingham's first innings, and from there on in the result was all but a certainty, although Shafiq and Gillespie managed to save Stedingham from complete embarrassment. Cotteril did the damage with the ball for the Titans, whilst Loganathan toiled hard for the Jets.

Gofftown Tigers 135 & 70 lost to
Greater Robbham de Grooters 319 by an Innings and 114 runs.

McKern. Sukhvinder Singh. McKern. The tale of the game.

Haha, batting at number 4 for Blue and number 9 for Pickford eh?

Oh well, very pleased with my form anyway, and Pickford are making a strong bid to not finish last.

I should be ready for the 11/3 match for Gofftown, due to the Colts having a bye

If you want to play for Grade instead of Black, that can be arranged.

I can't post them until Dev League has been simmed. They've been simmed however.

BTW, they're yesterdays games (10th March)

A fantastic day of grade.

Davistow Darters 104 & 192 Defeated
Campsfield Braves 41 & 120 by 135 Runs.

Another day at the local Heathridge Oval nightmare. Gooljar's figures were impressive on what is known as primarily a pacemans track, taking a creditable 9/88 for the match. Whilst Watt and Kennett's 14 over first innings demolition of the Braves was frightful to behold. Comley, when he got the chance, once again proved himself with 6/46 in the second innings.

Stedingham Jets 116 & 199 lost to
Edfield Seahawks 152 & 2/164 by 8 Wickets.

Matt Smith blew the Jets apart with an explosive 7/39, whilst Logantahan and Cameron tried to keep them in contention with 5/35 & 5/46 respectively. Mamesh gave the Jets more hope, with a creditable 65, however the target of 164 was reached with only two fallen wickets as Mørk ground his way to 57* whilst at the other end Bharat thumped a blistering 72* to seal the game for the Seahawks.

Nixonstown Foxes 222 & 167 defeated
Garven Island Sharks 148 & 68 by 173 runs.

Rich Edmunds went berserk, taking 8/18 in the seconds innings and 5/42 in the first to crush the Sharks, who once again failed to deliver. Jamee Gray's 74* initially gave the Foxes spirit, after they looked shaky at the beginning, but from there on in it was plain sailing with only Lezama (64) and Teague (11/98) putting up any real fight for the Sharks.

Gofftown Tigers 271 flogged
Pickford Panthers 54 & 69 by an innings and 148 runs.

A laughable affair at Gofftown Oval as the Panthers obviously decided that showing up was good enough. Thomas bowled with precision to take 6/23 to reduce the Panthers to 54, then Jasotharan went about his usual business with a strong 88. Then all the Gofftown bowlers chipped in as the Panthers fell to a crushing loss, with no stand out performance.

Greater Robbham de Grooters 131 & 227 defeated
Twybridge Titans 125 & 158 by 75 runs.

Scott's 129 was the highlight of the match, as he took the game away from the Titans in what was looking like a close affair. The bowling was solid throughout, although there were no stand out performances of the kind grade has been known to produce. The Titans did their best however none of them could stand up as Scott did, as they fell 75 short of their target.
