    2005/2006 State League (NZ women)

I didn't. I just assumed because it was a ND game and she plays for ND now she'd play.

Did you win? What was it like for Emily playing against her old team?

    2005/2006 State League (NZ women)

170 - wow. I don't think I've scored that many runs in all my life. I think the ball has hit me more times than I have hit it. I saw on the ECB website that Janice had a great time in England, scored a ton then won middlsex player of the year. i hope this year is good for her, she probably...

That is interesting. I think you are very lucky getting to open with Janice Fraser, she seems to have been around forever and I think she is great. I like her because she bats like a guy, gives it a good heave.

Tell me more about your team Tamara - I see it is just about the same as what you suggested earlier with that batting order, with a couple of new names...

Whoops - didn't meant that rudely. I might add you to that list if I ever see you play :)

Looking at this I think I underestimated Wellington, they might not be too bad with Anna O'Leary (now Smith) back. There really are some very good openers around with Fahey, Kember, Lind, Smith, Fraser, Lynch all capable.

    2005/2006 State League (NZ women)

State League 2005-06 The 2005-06 State League season starts this month with champions State Canterbury Magicians and their five contenders ready to commence rivalries on the field once again. The six Major Associations have finalised their squads according to New Zealand Cricket regulations...

I think it is fair enough that Rolls and Drumm fit cricket around the other things in their lives, the women's game isn't professional after all, you have to earn a living somehow. They might be at the age where they want to leave and start families anyway.

    2005/2006 State League (NZ women)

Really? That is interesting. Typical though, it seems you don't have to do much at all to play for any country you like. I heard Anna O'Leary was going to play for England.

    2005/2006 State League (NZ women)

Good for you Tamara - that's a good attitude to have. Ros Kember is good but I reckon there are not enough batters around who can just give it a whack. We've got lots of good nudgers and nurdlers but nobody who can kane it like Rolls can. Where are the people who just boof it? The only...

I don't think so and I really hope not. Just imagine how hopeless the NZ team would be without them.

    2005/2006 State League (NZ women)

Here's my pick for the competition: Auckland - top 3 but they'll need Rolls to have a great year and Scripps to get lots of wickets. Will miss Drumm. Northern Dist - top 3, they'll finally sort their act out and win some games Central Dist - last unfortunately Wellington - will really...

    2005/2006 State League (NZ women)

No permanent damage to my face, just to my ego. It was really embarassing. Some girl hit it really high and I called for it and did everything the coach told me to. I got in position to catch it right above my eyes but when it came down I was too slow and it didn't even touch my hands, it...

Thanks, that's really nice. I think I might get into scoring, just to stay involved.

    2005/2006 State League (NZ women)

Wow. You must be really good Tamara. I'd love to be good but I'm a bit overweight and I can't really run anymore. I still think I'm pretty clued up about it though, I follow cricket heaps on the internet. I used to play but I gave up after one game where I got a golden duck and then when we...

    2005/2006 State League (NZ women)

My favourite players are Emily Drumm, Maria Fahey, Rebecca Rolls, Nicola Browne, Haidee Tiffen and Ros Kember. I've never even heard of Anna Wilkins, I thought ND had that really promising little keeper with the funny last name - I think it is Jeanette Ullet? She's rated really highly by the...

    2005/2006 State League (NZ women)

I just looked at the Canterbury team on the internet and its got heaps of bowlers and not that many batters. There are 8 bowlers and only 5 batters. Cricketchick might be right about them lacking batting. I thought they might want lots of cover for Gerrish and Taylor.

I'm so impressed people are talking about the State League on here. I wish I was good enough to play in it! CD are my favourite team but I live in Dunedin now so I support the sparks. I don't know why Kate Pulford isn't playing but that's a shame, she was awesome. I saw her smash an amazing...
