Javagal Srinath vs. Mohd Siraj – the better test bowler

Notice that Srinath's record in India is pretty good. That's because he had competent spinners holding fort at the other end. He could take a breather and did not have all the responsibility thrust on him - to take wickets while runs leaked at the other end. But aside from South Africa - always...

    All-Time World XIs: Discussion Thread

Sportskeeda (an Indian mag) has listed the following as India's ATG XI in England Gavaskar KL Dravid Sachin Gill Pant Jadeja Kapil Bumrah Siraj Chandra Kohli's Klown posse is going batshit crazy in their X mentions.

*Official* India tour of England 2025 General Discussion

Cricinfo has an illuminating piece on control percentages of batters and bowlers who induced the most mistakes. My takeaway was Pant being a batter with near equal control percentage as Root and better than rest of the English batters. Not really surprising to me because Pant's test batting is...

Javagal Srinath vs. Mohd Siraj – the better test bowler

Srinath is next only to Bumrah and Kapil. Shami also a tier above Siraj. Before this breakthrough series, Siraj was pretty much a useful support cast.

Better Batsman : Jadeja vs Imran

Of the celebrated ARs from the 1970s/80s, Imran is the one whose batting numbers flatter his actual abilities. An extremely limited batter. Kapil and Botham were FAR more capable with higher gears against better attacks. Jadeja obviously better than Imran.

    Absurdly Awesome Cricket Stats

Of course, on a sixes struck per test or inning basis, Pant is already the most prolific of all time. His challengers in the current generation are Brook, Jaiswal and Gill.

    Absurdly Awesome Cricket Stats

Rishabh Pant struck 3 sixes in his last inning taking him past Viv Richards in all-time six hitters in tests. To compare, Pant achieved this feat in his 45th test while it took Richards 121 tests. Pant now sits at number 12 in the AT six hitters list. Could climb past the likes of Rohit and...

**Official** 4th Test at Melbourne, 26-30 Dec 2024

Virat kohli picking up a fight with journalists who could not care an ounce about him or his precious family is still making me laugh. Also tells a bit about the imaginary enemies he sees everywhere.

''You are right it's not specific to India.'' - was about India in India. The follow up sentence made it clear.

**Official** 4th Test at Melbourne, 26-30 Dec 2024

You are right it's not specific to India. Maybe he's being charitable because in India, before the capitulation in front of NZ, the lower order led by Jaddu and Ashwin carried Indian batting countless times. Jadeja has scored runs in SENA as well but of course those runs have not been as...

**Official** 4th Test at Melbourne, 26-30 Dec 2024

Looked up Konstas recent form and it's sizzling. Excellent call from AUS selectors to swap someone struggling - relatively - with a confident pick. Someone who also scored a century against Indians in the tour match.

Ravichandran Ashwin retires from international cricket

Was your brain puzzled there was another Ravi? Ravi Shastri, ever the gentleman, naturally is going to be generous. Why do you think that quoted tweet somehow cancels my point?

Ravichandran Ashwin retires from international cricket

Won't be missed. I am with Shastri - the legendary Indian coach - when it comes to rating Ashwin.

Would Ashwin's retirement trigger some residual sense of shame in Kohli and Rohit?

    **Official** 3rd Test @Brisbane (Ewwwww), 14th-18th December

Are you implying they are not 3-0 down morally? The lack of killer instinct stems from the unspoken truth that the formal series scoreline flatters them.

    **Official** 3rd Test @Brisbane (Ewwwww), 14th-18th December

Happy retirement to India's 4th best spinner of all time. I am puzzled by the timing as well. While Ashwin is about as effective as Rohit and Kohli as a bowler is AUS, I'd still back him to score more runs than either of them.

Desperately unlucky for AUS they could have sealed it here.
