    English Domestic Season 2025

Of the five games played today I think only 3 of the 10 sides gave List A debuts to any players and I don't think Derbyshire are overly effected by franchise cricket. Basra, Hawkins, Haydon (Derbys) Seecharan, Pocklington (Notts) Neal, Mayes, Lumsden (Hants)

What we learned from the 5th Test

England are over dependent on Stokes and have not managed Bethell well.

    English Domestic Season 2025

Or a sign counties have a more open attitude than their previous stance post Yorkshire. Most if not all counties now have 2nd XI fixtures against SACA hopefully more than a tick box exercise, but then how many county 2nd XIs are taken as seriously as a decade ago?

Now the Test is finished the ECB's franchise competition starts tomorrow with North London playing South London. Only problem is the North London squad has: Pope, Smith, Overton and Dawson all involved to a greater or lesser extent at the Oval in the last few days. WIll they be up for it...

    English Domestic Season 2025

The Gloucestershire exodus continues. 25 year old Ajit Singh Dale joins his third first class county at the end of the season on a three year deal. Doubt he will join on loan earlier but you never know. Lancashire are the beneficiaries who currently have endless pace options (12 at the last...

5th Test (The Oval) - 31st July to 4th August

Day 5 scenario. India batting, no chance of a result after plenty of rain. Washington Sundar batting. England refuse to shake hands as Bethell has taken 4 wickets in the innings. Pope says to Washington that he has to give away his wicket to allow the young all rounder his first test 5 for...

    English Domestic Season 2025

Chilton said he was allowed to leave Old Trafford because his bowling would never prosper there, and had more chance of becoming an allrounder at Derbyshire.

4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

Great scheduling that means that both sides might well be fielding weakened sides. Why not schedule games so it's "The Best vs The Best"..... I forgot that's our franchise cricket slogan which we are in the precessing of selling off. Priorities. Can't wait for when the ECB lose control of...

4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

But the Super Giants franchise will be happy there

4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

Proves what the Old Trafford pitches are like. All credit to India from 0/2 is a big turnaround but that might well have been a different story on a different ground. Just imagine playing the majority of your 4 day first class matches on a ground where even Bazball can't get a result in 5 days.
