Who is the greatest test spinner of all time?

Around February, I had calculated average quality of all the batsmen dismissed by spinners during their test career. O'Reilly's bow avg is 22.60, throughout his career he dismissed batsmen avging 31.1, so he is net positive 8.5 per wkt for his team, which is best for all test spinners with...

Actually Murali has great record against 'average' test batsmen + Wks + allrounders. But against very best of his era, his numbers are below par. Here is full list of his head-to-head record where data is available.

Warne and Murali averaged about 50.0 against some of the prominent batsmen of their era. Their head-to-head record is very poor. Against elite batsmen..... O'Reilly, H Verity and R Jadeja have good record.

DoG's ODI Batting and Bowling Performances

Desmond Haynes's innings surely has to be best debut innings in ODIs. Imagine the reactions if Jason Roy or Warner reaching 148 in 40th over in today's batting favorable conditions. Haynes did it 45 years ago when only 47 ODIs were played before that match. He got out when team score was 247/6...

Rameez Raja's 119* vs NZ in 1992 WC is very unusual innings. He scored more than 70% of team runs (NZ batting first allout for 166).

DoG's ODI Batting and Bowling Performances

"but VIV did that when that style of play was unheard of" Not true really. A year before Viv, David Gower had scored 158(118) vs NZ in 50 over game. Kapildev also scored 175* before Viv. I think even if you factor in bigger bats, smaller grounds, flatter wickets; Rohit's 264 in 50 overs(2014)...

DoG's ODI Batting and Bowling Performances

Agree, but i still feel some minor adjustment is required. At the end of 50 overs.... Viv was batting at 96* in 1979 wc final. In that 189* game, he was 154* at 50 overs mark.(Rohit Sharma scored 264 in 50 overs game)
  15. D

DoG's ODI Batting and Bowling Performances

I think there should be some sort of adjustment for the innings that were played in 60 overs ODIs. The 2 highest rated innings are from 60 overs game plus Viv''s 138* in 1979 wc final. Also Viv's 189* is in 55 overs game. Wonder what was the individual scores at the end of 50 overs in these games.
