Cricinfo's 25 Greatest T20 Players of all Time

Chris Gayle basically the WG Grace of T20 cricket. While it was always going to be the dominant format, he helped flog it globally while setting some astonishing batting records compared to his peers. Hard to not have him at #1 really.

Discussing that Masood innings and posting the scorecard is just foreshadowing the winner of the greatest score of 84.

How should England go about developing spinners?

Days are much shorter in September as well, so more of an issue with dew. The Hundred is a pain in the arse for scheduling but it didn't work well before either. Scheduling of the first class game has been a perennial moan as far back as I can remember. Often large parts of June - August were...

How should England go about developing spinners?

Maybe but I don't think that's preventing other counties from producing wickets that offer something for spinners. The prevailing incentives are to stack sides with right arm mediums.

How should England go about developing spinners?

No point leaving spinners at the mercy of counties to perfect their art. CC has routinely shown itself unable to develop international class spinners. Bashir might be an extreme version of picking regardless of domestic form but there are 17 other counties and, presumably, 17 other opportunities...

    How good could Zimbabwe be…

I was thinking more of the limits on international players. Some of these guys in county cricket wouldn't have got a county gig at the outset of their careers if they were not English qualified, or at risk of becoming so quite early into their careers.

    How good could Zimbabwe be…

No but they'd presumably become international players so less likely to be given county contracts.

    How good could Zimbabwe be…

None of these guys are making Zimbabwe anything other than a few runs better than what they are now. Presumably if they were playing for Zimbabwe they'd also be forced into only playing first class cricket in Zimbabwe, which means they'd be less good versions of themselves, or fully committed to...

Women's football stuff that doesn't deserve its own thread

Depends how confident they'll be giving it to Bazball England given they'll only be 2 up in the Ashes at the point of the ceremony, having previously dispatched India 5-0 at home.

Women's football stuff that doesn't deserve its own thread

Jokes aside, a pretty remarkable run by Arsenal to win it. They had to get through two stages of qualifying. In the group stage they lost 5-2 to Bayern in the opener then won five on the trot and lost both opening legs to Real and Lyon in the knock-out round, turning the semi against the latter...

*Official* Zimbabwe in England (One Off Test)

@kevinw said M25 though, which is famously known as being horrendously slow. Something I can attest for today, having spent about 2 hours on it to travel 40 miles.

    Ricky Ponting Poem

Amazing that poem was written nearly a decade before ChatGPT was launched. Mind boggles how he did it without modern technology, like how the prehistoric man built Stonehenge.

    **Official** English Football Season 2024/25

Not sure any of that is Anorim's fault though. Otherwise "changing the manager at Old Trafford" could replace "swapping the deck chairs on the Titanic" in the English lexicon.
