    Postpone them sine die?

Good news if true. Hope the "State of Origin" series goes ahead too. I see the first match is to be held in Adelaide which, as far as I can remember, is quite unusual.

Should the professional game of football be reduced from 92 teams to 60 teams?

We have here the possibility of many clubs folding at more or less the same time and there being an over-supply of prime real estate. What happened to clubs in the past, on a piecemeal basis, may not happen in such a situation.

Should the professional game of football be reduced from 92 teams to 60 teams?

Probably not; most stadia occupy valuable real estate and would be snapped up by corporations for redevelopment. Some may, I suppose, have potential for resurrection as an Association Football club but fans, other than possibly very rich ones, would be nowhere near to being involved in such an...

Should the professional game of football be reduced from 92 teams to 60 teams?

Don't we already have few enough professional Association Football teams nurturing enough young, home grown talent with a view to their becoming players good enough to play for our national football teams?

    ***Official*** English Football Season 2019-20

This. Heck, two unexpected meetings of minds in the one day. It is the spectacle of billionaires effectively helping themselves to public money that really sticks in the craw. Perhaps the government can do something retrospectively about this abuse of a necessarily hastily cobbled together policy.

    ***Official*** English Football Season 2019-20

I see the billionaire owners of Liverpool Association Football Club have made the decision to take the government's (our) money to furlough their less privileged members of staff on 80% of their probably quite low, on average, pay. This is whilst they continue to pay their "stars" hundreds of...

Watched the DVD of the 2003 World Cup final yesterday. I remembered Robinson's mercurial runs, Johnson's controlled brutality, what a tremendous pack we had etc., etc., but I'd quite forgotten what a storming match Tindall had had at inside centre.

That's it then - no NRL until further notice. Bu99er!

Well, I hope they keep playing. Still looking forward to the State of Origin series, highest standard of RL anywhere in the world. I hope it survives.

Tuned into Cronulla v Melbourne yesterday morning, another good game but played in an empty stadium. Seems the game may be going the same way down under as it is in Blighty.

Tuned in to Penrith v Sydney the other morning. It was quite a tough game and there was a lot of skill on show. It struck me, not for the first time, that the Aussies could probably send a few teams over here to beat our Superleague champions in the annual "World Club Challenge". Meanwhile...

France's Grand Slam hopes and their new found discipline went out of the window at Murrayfield yesterday with the sending off of their tight-head prop just before half time. Well done to the Scots for (ultimately) managing to make their one man advantage count. There were a couple of stages in...

So, Wakefield Trinity, with a weakened side due to injuries, outscore Hull by 5 tries to 4 to earn a respectable draw at full time in the match at the iconic Belle Vue stadium last night. The new rules say, however, that no side should be able to achieve such a thing and the only valid outcome...

France have been a revelation. It's a very long time since I saw them defend so well against the top teams. It looks like Edwards is working some magic with them. I guess he'd still rather be head coach at Wigan RLFC, though. Rather disappointed that England seemed to show no interest in going...

Impressive debut for Folau and Tomkins back to his mercurial best, scoring three great tries, in a rather easy victory for Catalan Dragons at the weekend. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ztCZSkf_SuA Surprise victory for my team, Wakefield Trinity, over mighty Warrington at the iconic Belle Vue...

A valiant effort by the Toronto Wolfpack, without Williams who had flown back to New Zealand for the birth of his child, at Wigan last night. They lost their captain and loose forward, the vastly experienced Wilkin, before kick-off and then the squad member brought in to replace him soon...

Well, thanks to a postponement due to the weather, in the big rugby match of the weekend we (Wakefield Trinity) managed to avoid a home defeat to Les Dragons Catalans at the iconic Belle Vue stadium yesterday. A very good game of rugby on Friday night though, probably the best of the weekend...

I thought the Scots played well and we were a bit fortunate to get the points. However, I think we're the only team to have registered an away victory so far. Puzzled too about not picking a regular #8.

I saw Sonny Bill Williams make his debut for the Toronto Wolfpack against Castleford in the weekend's big rugby match at the Headingley Stadium yesterday. Nothing changed my opinion that he would be a great, if rather expensive, asset to the club nor my opinion that, mostly due to the current...
