    So both sides can’t bat that well, England’s one proper good bat is out of form and has struggled in recent times in any game other than a dead rubber. The only people who score runs for England look set to be benched anyway for Broad, Anderson and Archer.

    Don’t think Jonny is good enough to bat higher than 7. His technique at test level is always found out anywhere that may do a little bit. He always seems to just waft at the ball and get out bowled or lbw then review like a sulky little brat even if it’s obviously out.

    Of course he'll be picked, they don't have the balls to tell him he's been poor for 2 years. He gets in 'cause his name is Broad, not because he's been bowling well. I'm sure he'll make me eat it but as we stand now, there are better options.

    Without looking at scorecards didn’t Curran do more than Broad last summer? Woakes absolute shoe in and Archer in for sure. Can’t keep living on what was - Cook was undroppable yet could barely get a run!

    Currently don’t see how Broad can be in the XI. Curran and Woakes are just better in UK. Unless they get Bairstow, Buttler etc opening or in top order and then just crash their side with #batdeep

    Yes it is my opinion, I think going in without Pattinson is really silly if he’s available. Whomever misses out is unlucky and no I would not pick someone on their batting if they’re a bowler, it is simply a bonus. Playing all 4 would be pretty crazy, perhaps that’s the correct thing to do.     Very talented clearly but he has a lot of moments where he doesn't really do much, then others where he's irresistable. I think if he can become more consistent, and imo since there's hardly even any swing and whatnot anymore he'd be fine coming in at no4 when Morgan trudges back off to play for...
