*Official* Road to the 2025-26 Ashes

Sangha as I mentioned, Jack Clayton, maybe Tim Ward even though he is more of a top order guy. All are pretty clearly better cricketers than Peake is at the moment, even if he does appear to have a real high ceiling That isn't even including those north of 30 (someone like Cartwright has been...

*Official* Road to the 2025-26 Ashes

I guess that brings me to another, probably more important point, the more cricket various Australia A teams get to play the better. Individual selections matter less than the fact this series is happening in the first place, which is undoubtedly a good thing

*Official* Road to the 2025-26 Ashes

No I agree that Peake getting that sort of experience this A tour will provide is a good thing in of itself, but I would 100% prefer players who have a higher chance of playing Tests in the short/medium term there instead

*Official* Road to the 2025-26 Ashes

I agree that he does look promising from all I have seen of him, but that doesn't change my viewpoint that a decent grounding in FC cricket is not just desirable but critical for any prospective young batting talent The whole notion of that level of fast-tracking is just one I oppose outright

*Official* Road to the 2025-26 Ashes

Yeah you are spot on about the logic the selectors are seemingly going with, even if I don't particularly agree with it myself Sangha absolutely should have been there though, Weatherald and Patterson out is understandable if they are focusing so much longish term, but Sangha is a fair bit...

*Official* Road to the 2025-26 Ashes

Yeah as much as he would have never been anywhere near the Test team if I was in George Bailey's position, Konstas being in this squad makes perfect sense. It certainly is good for him to get some experience against what's likely to be a decent side in conditions unfamiliar to him. A kid with...

*Official* Road to the 2025-26 Ashes

I much preferred the batting lineup from the squad against Sri Lanka A than this one tbqh. Although that being said, it's only Peake (wayyyyyyyy too early) who doesn't deserve to be there at all. Bowling lineup is a hell of a lot stronger for this squad than that one Definitely went all in on...

Must say Bortoleto is impressing me more and more as the season wears on

5th Test (The Oval) - 31st July to 4th August

No FC tons, average the wrong side of 30 Maybe he just isn't actually that good?

    voices??

Speaking of commentary voices, whoever decided to put Charles Dagnall behind a microphone absolutely deserves to be on the dock at The Hague

Should fast bowlers be banned from diving round the boundary?

No, any sort of blanket ban is idiotic IMO On the other hand however, I do believe not diving for reasons of self preservation is something that shouldn't be criticised mostly for fast bowlers, especially in Tests. Limited overs a bit different as it is generally good fielders on the boundary...

    Australia/New Zealand motorsport thread

My man Ryan Newman almost did it in Cup in the first season of the current playoffs format in 2014, but unfortunately Kevin Harvick was just that bit quicker that day at Homestead As for Supercars, yeah Feeney honestly has been excellent this year and under the traditional format would be a...

    2025–26 Australian Domestic Season

Another edition of the Top End T20 coming up in a fortnight. Really enjoyed what I saw of last year's tournament, especially with the Strikers Academy/Adelaide 1st grade all stars XI taking the win Here's the squad for this year. Fair few players I really do rate amongst those names

    Australia/New Zealand motorsport thread

There has genuinely been a champion in this playoff format who won the title without winning a race all year (Matt Crafton, Truck Series 2019) and that didn't lead to any sort of change so I wouldn't hold my breath. Agree that the format is decidedly not great though. Makes it all the more...

    Australia/New Zealand motorsport thread

One of those last 4 is Talladega too, which is genuinely as much as an unpredictable wildcard as it gets. So while definitely unlikely, it isn't completely beyond the realms of possibility. Think making it through the first round will be a tough ask though

**Official** South Africa in Australia T20s/ODIs Tour 2025

He wasn't at his best last summer and still averaged 38 in the Shield. Lets not be ridiculous here

Cricket stuff that doesn't deserve its own thread

Even for one of these not completely serious old players leagues, that must still be a horrible feeling Worst over I've seen since Simon Mackin in a Shield game at the WACA a fair few years back (the game a very young Pucovski made 270 or somesuch). Sad story that one, went from solid domestic...

    2025–26 Australian Domestic Season

Fair point. Would prefer him at 3 personally but if he sees opening as his most realistic path to push for a Test spot I could absolutely see that as a possibility

    2025–26 Australian Domestic Season

Am genuinely interested to see who NSW do open with come next season, Konstas will likely be one (hopefully for the full season as he shouldn't be anywhere near the Test team) but who will open up alongside him? Maddinson obviously a possibility but only if he's remembered which end of the bat...

**Official** South Africa in Australia T20s/ODIs Tour 2025

Think the best thing for Connolly going forward would to be nowhere near internationals for a little while so as to get a full season for WA under his belt. I don't think it's fair to bracket him with JFM on the basis that he actually has been genuinely impressive in the few Shield games he's...
