    Bruce Yardly Dies

RIP Was only watching some footage of him bowling to Joel Garner after reading about him and Bob Appleyard a day or two before he passed. The middle finer off spinner grip seems to generate a great amount of spin although its bloody uncomfortable when gripping the ball.

Dale Steyn vs Allan Donald vs Shaun Pollock

Donald, forever and always. He IMO was the complete package as a bowler (furious pace, raw fury [attitude], line and length). Steyn always seems to be putting it on when he tries to verbal batsmen; Donald on the other hand used to roar at batsmen and team mate alike. His reaction to Boucher...

Here's a request I've had no luck in searching for myself, has anyone found any match footage of Terry Jenner or Ashley Mallet?

If I'm not mistaken, he wrote a letter to the Sri Lankan board which in essence said, don't forget about me, give me a shot. To their credit they did, and its paid off

Check out Rob's video of the '99-'00 tour of Sri Lanka at the 6:43 mark. Besides that, for a SLA in my opinion, accurate is exactly what you want. Someone who isn't afraid to flight the ball, but can frustrate the batsmen, keep that pressure on then use that change up to get the wicket. Herath...

I second these sentiments. Theoretically, if it rains between games while the beach is active, or just the general abrasiveness of sand, couldn't a fielding team that gets hit for 6 in the area claim damage to the ball?

From memory, and IMO, the his main problem in England was the softness of the pitches, they just sat up to be hit and robbed him of turn and skid. Only saw an over and a 1/2 of Herath today (had to go to work), but he seemed to be asking questions of Hughes straight away.

    The class of mid 00's

Cook I think will have an understated legacy that will not be fully appreciated until long after he has retired. When I think of the Cook of the '06-'07 Ashes compared to the Cook from '09 til present, I am gobsmacked at the transformation.

I remember something about his retirement from the WC. Was it injury related or just him deciding it was time?

The Art of Leg-spin (Wrist Spin) in a dfficult place ?

True, but you know its bad that the failings of our system regarding left arm spinners are some of the better results in the international scene.

The Art of Leg-spin (Wrist Spin) in a dfficult place ?

Bevo was a pace bowler?..Learn something new everyday. Was a great prospect, should have had more of an opportunity at test level. Higgs, from memory, was a batsmen who they hoped would develop into a dual spinning batting all rounder. EWS, you bring up an interesting point. I wonder why he...

The Art of Leg-spin (Wrist Spin) in a dfficult place ?

:D To think I started all this off. I think the main issue I have (as a leggie) is that an offie is responsible for All spin bowling at top level. I wouldn't have a problem if he was responsible for his fellow offies, but its sacrilegious to have an offie coaching a leggie and SLA. Plus, you...

Prince EWS, his stats seemed to indicate he was more a bowler versus a batsmen, but with a bowling average of 45.61, he wasn't a great one. Agree totally. The problem with bowler's emulating Warne and his naturally high action is they don't seem to know he dragged himself around for months as...

The Art of Leg-spin (Wrist Spin) in a dfficult place ?

I agree totally. You don't have to be a world beater to be a great coach. I just think that if your trying to mould quality test cricketers, the absolute best situation for them coaching wise is a high quality former test cricketer.

The Art of Leg-spin (Wrist Spin) in a dfficult place ?

I will admit, I have only seen him bowl in footage of a shield match between NSW and Vic from about '98 or '99. That's the problem I have though, he was never tested as a bowler of substance on the international stage, never played internationally in a test side, so why is he employed to shape...
