New Zealand odi team of the 90s, should've been world beators?

We did not have a particularly good ODI team in the 90s. We had a conditions-dependent, one-trick-pony, team. For most of it. The uplift even to 1999 and the early 2000s when (the glimpse of) Allott and then Bond showed how much more dangerous they could be with more than one way to win a game.

Foulkes is a better T20 bowler, though.

    English Domestic Season 2024

What's the rules now with number of foreign players aloud to play in CC? I was surprised to see both Holder and Nathan Smith able to play for Worcestershire.

Is Jonty Rhodes the best fielder International Cricket has seen ?

Stealing this from a kimber podcast. To paraphrase: "it's ironic, or fitting, that the most iconic Rhodes runout is one where he didnt throw the ball at the stumps"

Shipley looked quite far off the pace in his only game of the domestic season. Still quite early in his recovery.

I assumed Allen was 'too busy' with IPL preps to be arsed playing PS. Your"e saying he doesn't even have a contract? What the hell was he doing all March then? Or was he injured? Or not good enough to make the Auckland team?

Wellington are the Plunket Shield champions, btw.

    NZ domestic season 2023/24

Accross the 3 formats. Foulkes was probably the standout for me. Although Smith got domestic player of the season, would have to look up a comparison. Those 2 , plus O'Rourke (before missing the second half), were the standouts.

    NZ domestic season 2023/24

I think this season confirms (for me) that Finn Allen is a bit of a coaster. Could probably be twice the player with a better base to build on. Obviously has very limited ambitions (even as a T20 specialist)...

    NZ domestic season 2023/24

Without knowing how the bonus points work, I'm going to assume they were pretty even on the first innings. So Wellington can probably win the Shield with a draw. I'd say an outright result is more likely, though.

Looks like Dale Phillips has been replaced mid-match by Jake Gibson. But he will remain ahead of Severin in the runs-scoring chart as he was dismissed for 1 in his second innings.

I think the Phillips innings today (144) must put Dale Phillips in lead by about 30 over Severin.

Effectively a Shield Final between ND and Wellington. Looks like it will all be decided on a bunsen.

Iirc. He had that great tour of India, then missed all/most of the domestic season. Edit. That happened to Fisher. Maybe I'm mixing them.

For top run-scorer. Literally couldn't be tighter between the current top 2. With exact same runs and average.

Heading in to the final round of the season. Tight race to be the season's top wicket taker. Between Smith, Duffy and Kuggeleijn. Duffy has been top wicket taker on 3 previous occasions. If he were to do it again. He would equal Stephen Boock doing this 4 times. With only Bob Blair (of the...

With a bit of competition, it makes me wonder how Santner is going this round. Oh. Must be too tired from all that 12th manning?
