Hamish Rutherford retiring after the last Super Smash game next week.

    NZ domestic season 2023/24

I've seen a little bit of Archie Sims in the Wellington team. He looks pretty good when he gets going. Harry O'Loughlin in the Canterbury team had a decent Gillette Cup for CBHS before Christmas, and also hit 200 at The Willows earlier this season.

****, this is some impressive hitting. End of powerplay. Does he rein it in?

    NZ domestic season 2023/24

Yeah, I agree. Was solid stuff. I wonder if perhaps the state of the game - batters struggling, boundaries quite rare - lent itself more to the sort of commentary you're talking about. A 'normal' T20 is possibly quite hard to commentate on. Exciting cricket events interrupt the more...

    That’s brutal for Muller

    NZ domestic season 2023/24

To be fair I maintain my technique was sound. Hot Wellington day, ain't no time to muck around and get ice cream all over the hands. Smash the flakes, then smash the ice cream. Unsurprising that Sumo would overstate the level of aggression when he thinks a chip towards the outfield is going 30...

In a stunning example of #NZsoSmall, this was actually me! Karma, I suppose, for talking **** about the quality of the comms team. Nevertheless, Sumo - wac. Though in fairness he displayed more analytical rigour and expertise in those couple of minutes than in anything he’s ever said about cricket.

Oh yeah he’s a good bat, no doubt. More just laughing about T20 cricket where Dougeh bats 6, Nathan Smith opens (probably a one off tbf) and Adam Milne bats 7 for NZ. Real club cricket vibes.

    Bracewell at 6 lol.

    That’s outrageous if it’s out.

I wonder if he’s still eligible for the West Indies? They should fly him over to Australia when they have an injury crisis. Better than some random from club cricket.

    2023–24 NZ women's summer

I’m at the ground and this is pretty incredible to watch. Such a momentum change.

The old straight up that lands just inside the boundary.

Misses playing in Dunedin again though. I wonder what KW has against New Zealand's greatest city and province? Has only played 1 of the last 5 games there.

I, too, would like Nathan Smith in this team.

“Quite gentle” off the park though 🙄

NZ will probably get 200 here and make it moot but that sure is a long tail. Injury prone Milne might be unable to bowl due to a nosebleed batting at 7.

'Footwork to pace bowlers is a myth' and other hot takes

I've got one that annoys me a bit: bowler skill vs natural variation. I saw a couple of times in the Aus-Pakistan series recently where they'd do those split screen things showing two separate deliveries with different results and try to identify minuscule differences in the bowler's release...
