    possible new leg spin variation?

The Wrong'un or Bosie looks a tough ask. Your whole wrist has to be inverted at delivery i take it?? And given a big flick between middle and ring finger as well??

    Leg spin bowling

That's correct. You simply cannot emulate your heroes, it isn't feasible. Warne was blessed with a strong upper body and strong wrists-he had to push himself around in a cart for nearly 12 months as a youngster. Probably why he could turn the ball so much and so quickly. But you won't go far...

    Your Cricket Season

Playing my first game of cricket today in early middle age. No way will i be able to play league but my village has a fair few sunday 40 over friendlies. I have been practising bowling spin both indoors and out, but have no idea what will happen in a match situation! May report back...

    *Official* Indian Premier League 2011

I don't think too much thought went into some of those signings. James Hopes, Dan Christian, Kierron Pollard, Eoin Morgan, Doug the Rug. These blokes are not up to it and are an enormous waste of cash. What is going on? And Ten Doeschate batting at No.7 in the IPL? When is he going to get a...

Dave- where are those Terry Jenner clinics? In England by any chance. I live in North Essex by the way.

    possible new leg spin variation?

Dave- do you need to drop your shoulder considerably and turn chest on do deliver a googly? Because i cannot see how you can bowl a googly from a classic side-on position.

    Bowling offspin

I have just had some coaching for the first time ever!! Went through the basic action this week without trying to spin the ball. I was doing a few things wrong. I am trying to land on the ball of my foot and bowl around a braced left leg and a follow through. Next week we move onto spin!! Can...

    Bowling offspin

How do you bowl finger spin as quickly as 1st class players? Is it a question of fast arm rotation as well as trying to rip the ball down one side? Sounds tough. At the moment i just want to SPIN the ball full stop.

    Bowling offspin

As i have small hands i find the best way is to grip the ball with the seam pointing slightly towards leg slip, 1st finger gripping outside of seam, 2nd finger on the smooth part, and then try to turn my whole hand violently clockwise with index finger pulling down, around a braced leg. As i'm a...

    Bowling offspin

Yes- trying to incorporate a proper follow through is a problem as well, i just seem to stop when delivering the ball, something to work on.

    Bowling offspin

I have just begun indoor nets and am trying to bowl off-spin so i can contribute to sunday friendly games. I am getting an hours proper coaching tomorrow which i have never had which should help. I am trying to figure out exactly how to put revolutions on the ball.

Learning to bowl off spin ?

Michael Vaughn has a video on Youtube on off-spin bowling but is not actually all that good on how how he spins the ball. Although he looks like he knows what he is doing- do you actually spin the ball from the main index finger primarily ?

Learning to bowl off spin ?

Yes, Swanny has big hands and he spins the ball from the inside of a knuckle and a finger. I have small hands but in practice i spread the 1st two fingers as far apart as possible and after an hour they hurt. I must be doing something right! Biggest problem is trying to keep my head still and...

Learning to bowl off spin ?

Looking on youtube and watching some of Graeme Swann's wickets where he has bowled guys through the gate, i am amazed at the revs he gets on the ball and the pace he sends the ball down. Is that difficult to achieve ? Most spin bowlers at my sunday level just float the ball down slowly. Do you...

Mr Clarrie Grimmett who i believe was an aussie. Or a Kiwi who moved to Australia anyway.

Learning to bowl off spin ?

Thanks guys. I don't have big hands- should i primarily use the 1st finger to impart spin ?

Learning to bowl off spin ?

I take it you need a pretty wide grip with the first two fingers and a pretty firm grip and a fast 'arm past the ear' action ?

Learning to bowl off spin ?

I am a senior player but am keen to learn how to bowl off spin to become a useful member of my team. I spent a couple of hours on my own in a net and was experimenting in bowling with a strong arm and shoulder action to propel the ball at a decent pace. I have never had any cricket coaching and...
