    Edge crack/split when knocking in

Hey, I bought a Kokkaburra Blade bat a couple of weeks ago, and have been spending a bit of time knocking it in. A friend at my club (who knocks a lot of bats in) said not to worrry much about the face and concentrate on the edges, which ive done. Fast forward to today, the edges are both...

    *Official* England in West Indies

I havnt seen a great deal of this innings so far (was on the train) but what i have seen it doesnt seem like the bowling/fielding has been pretty damn good. Hell id go as far as saying that the West Indies are a better fielding team than almost any other!

    *Official* England in West Indies

Is that the same 4 that was originally a 6 and then got changed by the 3rd umpire to a 4? Hmmm, thats going to work isnt it! Having said that, it was mighty close, but clearly hit the ground jsut short of the rope, rather than the rope itself!

    *Official* England in West Indies

haha! A further reason why i believe that the 'bad light' rule shouldnt be enforceable by either team as one team will always try to gain an advantage. Cant help but laugh though!

    Outline your referral system

I think its simple. Anyone can refer but it must be done instantly, i.e. within a few seconds of the original decision. The big thing though is this certainty clause at the moment. That would, in my opinion, breed errors. Lets take this absurd decision yesterday, its quite simple, the ball was...

    Are ticket prices getting silly?

This is basically what i was getting at, that in order to grow a sport you need to make it accessible to everyone, not just those who happen to be able to afford it (and often times have little interest in the game and more in being seen!)

    Are ticket prices getting silly?

Perhaps. But then, the only real point of going to a ground to watch a game is to get the atmosphere, something which is lacking on a fifth day of a test match unless something huge is about to happen (i.e. 2005)

    Are ticket prices getting silly?

P.S. I read with interest the last few posts on this thread on the barmy army forum; http://www.barmyarmy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=283 Oh and talking about tickets, does anyone know if WT20 tickets are still available? The ticket website from the ICC webby says they are are all...

    Are ticket prices getting silly?

Fair enough for the last day but, seriously, if rain doesnt effect the match, how often do they get to 5 days. Put it this way, if you really want to go but cant afford it, is it really worth holding out and hoping they make it to day 5?

    Are ticket prices getting silly?

Exactly. Whereas they did, for at least 3 days, in the 2003 series. Given that cricket is more popular now it leads to only one conclusion, that people are reluctant to pay the increased prices! But yes to the person that mentioned it on the previous page, what hope does cricket have if it...

    Are ticket prices getting silly?

Well lets take a rugby example. I was at Twickers for the GP Final this year and what a day. They realised that half full grounds generate no atmosphere at all, so did everything they could to guarantee a full house, including selling tickets for 5, 9 and 13 quid (about 10000 of them!)...

    Are ticket prices getting silly?

The last event was proof of the pudding, tickets were £45 and every day, Thursday thru Sunday was packed to the rafters. And, incidently, so was Gun Barrels afterwards. I guess it isnt helped when Lord's gets 2 tests a year (in non ashes years) and all the other venues only get 1, if at all...

    Are ticket prices getting silly?

The Ashes crowd at Edgbaston is a pretty young crowd. A lot of students get there, as theres a uni just down the road. I wouldnt overly object to £75 myself to watch a match, provided i knew i was going to see a decent amount of cricket. A one day game, therefore, would be my choice if i was...

    Are ticket prices getting silly?

Ive just recieved an email from Edgbaston regarding tickets for next years Ashes series. Tickets this year were £55-£60 for both the test and NZ ODI, and the previous ashes tour the tickets were, if i remember correctly, £45 (we went on the Sunday!) Heres what the email said; £75 :o Having...

Vaughan resigns as England captain... so does Collingwood

Put it this way, if you saw your captain have a moment of stupidity similar to that that KP had on Friday, would it fill you with confidence? And besides, his whole manner suggests an air of, invincibility. That to me rings alarm bells. Vaughan was/is a gentleman, as are a number of people in...

    Most dire cricket board?

The ECB would be a pretty good shout, but then not quite Pakistan/India scale of dire-ness!

Vaughan resigns as England captain... so does Collingwood

So i havnt read through the rest of this post but, who do people think should take over from Vaughan? Personally, im off the opinion it SHOULDNT be Pietersen. Infact, if im quite honest if i was a selector for the test team id be reluctant to pick him (but thats a different issue). Cook i think...
