    Who's Done the Most Damage?

There isn't a big difference IMO. Ambrose has a lot more competition early career, much less later half career when his WPM went down. Ambrose doesn't have much outside Eng, Aus and WI to talk about.

    Who's Done the Most Damage?

Initial response but I realise I am underestimating Botham.

    Who's Done the Most Damage?

I disagree but it's fair to say it's debatable.

    Who's Done the Most Damage?

yes if all other factors equal (wicket competition, performance across conditions/countries), that matters more than a few average points. I prefer the better wickettaker than the cheaper bowler.

Amarnath's 1983 Windies tour vs Steve Waugh's 1995 Windies tour

I don't want to bother and look at which exchange it was, but if I have mischaracterized your views I apologize

    Who's Done the Most Damage?

So to clarify, your argument is a 3 run average difference automatically makes one a better bowler?

    Who's Done the Most Damage?

It goes to how we rate Hadlee in India in 1988. I am considering Steyn over Hadlee lately.

    Who's Done the Most Damage?

Yeah this view of punishing a slightly higher average is divorced from actual game play. You will almost always take a better wicket taker who is more expensive over a tight bowler who takes less wickets.

    Who's Done the Most Damage?

Hadlee has to be relooked at but he clearly has a massive output advantage over Ambrose.

Which ATG unit is a better nucleus for a side?

I am asking based in this thread selection, because I wanted to see how a batting heavier nucleus can compare with a bowling heavy one.

Which ATG unit is a better nucleus for a side?

I picked Miller, Lindwall and a serviceable spinner. They don't match up to WI.

Which ATG unit is a better nucleus for a side?

I didn't put Johnston man. Stick to my comparison

    Who's Done the Most Damage?

Let's see. Lillee is just a more skilled and simply better wicket taker than Ambrose. He takes almost an entire 1WPM more and they each have the same issues of not proven everywhere. Imran was excellent from 80 to 88 (not 86) notably moreso than even peak Ambrose which offsets Ambrose being...

Amarnath's 1983 Windies tour vs Steve Waugh's 1995 Windies tour

I mean thats why I am loling because SliferXXX is usually rebutting that point when I being it up.

    Who's Done the Most Damage?

Do you still think I am anti-India?
  16. subshakerz

    Rank them in secondary skills.

Miller Botham Imran Jadeja Kapil Stokes

    Who's Done the Most Damage?

Thanks. I will say, I generally don't care about how others rank. I mainly care about players strengths and weaknesses being recognized so we can make more informed assessments. For example, virtually nobody was mentioning that Lara had trouble getting on top of flatter spinners like Kumble...

    Who's Done the Most Damage?

Lillee and Ambrose is close because neither is proven across conditions but Lillee was more penetrative and better after losing pace through injury. Ambrose essentially is the most condition dependent perhaps of all the top pacers. If in bouncy or seaming conditions he can be as deadly as...

    Who's Done the Most Damage?

Basically what Kyear does with WI players.

    Who's Done the Most Damage?

Yeah Imran to me is more proven given success in SC, WI, Eng and Aus.
