    Cricket going the hockey way??????

What you're essentially doing here is stating a case of the game changing following the evolution of players. This is true of cricket. However my post related primarily to field hockey, which was a case of a dramatic change in the game forcing the players to evolve. It was a case of the game...

    Cricket going the hockey way??????

It isn't a question of a sport being better or worse. Your viewpoint will depend on what you want from the sport. Just considering Field Hockey, if you're the type that believes it is a game primarily of stamina and speed, you would be of the view that the sport has improved over the years. If...

does the super 8 go to long

And yet, funnily enough, you have still not shown why the supposed complaining is unwarranted. I did. If you're going to try and pre-empt what others are gong to be saying, you'd better be damned well prepared to face the heat and justify that stance, explaining why you feel their points...

    India or Pakistan? World Cup?

There'd only be riots in one country to be honest. Why would there be riots in both cities if one team beats the other ?

    Cricket going the hockey way??????

Have a look at the context in which Fiery's question was phrased. The discussion centers around the fate of the subcontinental hockey teams when focus shifted from skills to sheer fitness and powerplay. So when Fiery suggests that the Dutch, the Germans, the Aussies and the Spanish have been...

    Cricket going the hockey way??????

11 Olympic gold medals says no. The advent of astroturf changed things completely. Not only did it take a lot of skill out of the game ( you needed to factor in the grass which influenced the movement of the ball earlier. Astroturf took that out of the equation.) Besides, astroturf costs a...

does the super 8 go to long

When you use the words "people complain that its not fair and all that crap", it implies you think the current format is fairer than previous ones. 8-) Yet another instance of you backtracking. Way to generalise. So now pointing out that a particular format isn't fair enough for a tournament...

    Kumble announces ODI retirement

A lot of India's problems could be solved by just using the kookaburra from one end in all domestic games. There has been talk of this in some quarters for many months, nothing seems to come off it .

    Cricket going the hockey way??????

You're missing the point. training does help increase athleticism, but only to an extent. A person who is naturally very athletic will always remain more athletic than another who is slow to begin with, but trains like hell. Some people are just naturally more athletic than others. A person who...

does the super 8 go to long

Ha, you are unbelievable. You couldn't prove how this tournament is fairer compared to previous ones, yet you still carry on like a spoiled prat.

Format ideas for future World Cups.

Er, actually I do. Except for the quarterfinals bit, it gave teams a much fairer chance of reaching the next stage. You don't get the point of it. There was an upset, WI still made the next round, and I have absolutely no problems with that since that format made sure one loss to Kenya didn't...

    Indian Team Jokes

These are English cricket jokes remixed. Been around since the 90s.

Format ideas for future World Cups.

Its a format that gives a single upset much more significance than it deserves. Hence it isn't fair compared to the earlier formats. Glaring example - India lost to Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. They're out completely. West Indies in 1996 lost to Kenya and India. Yet they made the next round...

    India's Next Captain

Yuvraj as captain would be disastrous. I suppose he could pull a mini-Ponting and give up on the booze and parties, and concentrate on his career, although I doubt it. A captain needs to be there for his mates too, not just for himself.

Format ideas for future World Cups.

A format that allows one upset to become a millstone around the neck of a team is by no means totally 'fair'. Its as simple as that. Basically the ICC put the horse in front of the cart.

    World Cup Group Stage Review

Format ideas for future World Cups.

A bit hard when theres basically just 1 more chance after that loss, as opposed to multiple chances in the previous format. No one is excusing bad starts. Its about ensuring that the format most closely reflects the realities of the world game. false. I'm the one saying that Bangladesh had...

Format ideas for future World Cups.

No, Sri Lanka weren't minnows in 96, and neither are Bangladesh in 2007. Both teams are/were sufficiently proficient enough before those respective World cups to get rid of the minnow tag. Sri Lanka more so than Bangladesh.
