    *Official* Warne vs Murali Discussion

And Murali was brilliant in WI, where Warne failed horribly. Plus Murali was clearly better in Pak too. Murali also dominated ATG India and Aus lineups at home. Massive point in his favour.

    *Official* Warne vs Murali Discussion

Warne bowled and succeeded against atrocious players of spin in Aus

    **Official** 1st Test @ Perth, 22nd-26th November

It hit the keeper’s gloves(initially I thought the same, but the replay clarified it)

    *Official* Warne vs Murali Discussion

And the point of Aus not giving spinning wickets to Ind and SL is also maybe consequential here

    *Official* Warne vs Murali Discussion

Murali was even more freakishly good in Eng than Warne was. And as good in SA without support(as Migara says above). Further the fact that Murali dominated ATG Ind and Aus lineups at home single handedly has to be factored in. Also I earlier used to take Murali’s Aus record at face value, but...

    **Official** 1st Test @ Perth, 22nd-26th November

He bowled very well vs Pak also, but yeah he has been quite ordinary by his standards

    Jasprit Bumrah vs Malcolm Marshall

Plus he didn’t facing strong batting lineups like Steyn, Hadlee or even McGrath
  8. H

    Jasprit Bumrah vs Malcolm Marshall

Yes but even if we were to exclude longevity, I would take Marshall

    Jasprit Bumrah vs Malcolm Marshall

On the topic, i would take Marshall ahead on his destructiveness(ala his 1983 India series). I would like Bumrah to have a series like that
  10. H

    Jasprit Bumrah vs Malcolm Marshall

You are taking one series way too seriously and ignoring all the contextual factors for that series. Bumrah bowled decently well in the first test and second test was a spinner’s wicket. Massive sample size to diss on him every chance lol

Combining ODI and Test records, who are the 5 greatest cricketers ever?

I feel the top 3/4 bats in ODI are great enough to notably take out a top 10 bowler, who is a decent lower order bat. Would take ABD and Kohli over Pollock in ODIs.

Combining ODI and Test records, who are the 5 greatest cricketers ever?

ABD. Nearly as good as Kohli/Sachin batting, only behind Viv. Won’t take Pollock because of his batting only

Combining ODI and Test records, who are the 5 greatest cricketers ever?

He’s done quite well at home except the NZ series also
  14. H

Combining ODI and Test records, who are the 5 greatest cricketers ever?

Bumrah might get into this list by the end of his career

    Len Hutton vs Viv Richards

    Viv>Hutton>Sunny IMO
  16. H

    Dale Steyn vs Brian Lara

Steyn. 2nd greatest test bowler ever and level with Hadlee, Murali, Mcgrath for that position. Lara is behind SRT, Hobbs, Viv, Sobers, Smith

Combining ODI and Test records, who are the 5 greatest cricketers ever?

Viv was a better bowler overall slightly I would say. And one of the best ever ODI fielders ever(the best of his era).
  18. H

Viv vs Lara vs Smith: Who has the best series performances?

As soon as you said that, I didn’t feel any need to debate further

ODIs : Kapil Dev vs Imran Khan

Earlier I used to be sure, but Subz had some decent arguments
  20. H

Combining ODI and Test records, who are the 5 greatest cricketers ever?

With a 70-30 weightage to tests and ODIs: Tendulkar Richards Mcgrath Murali Hadlee/Wasim(Wasim was ATG in tests and ODIs, should make it above Imran marginally. Hadlee is a top 6/7 ODI bowler too).
